The breakfast set out on the balcony was lovely. The service was good, however the quality of a couple of items did not match the setting. Orange juice was not freshly made, bacon reheated, eggs cooked as requested.
Perched on top of the cliffs overlooking Hermanus’s Walker Bay, The Marine offers first-class splendor and elegance and a spectacular seascape, with imposing views extending across Western Capes...

The location on the water and under the mountains is exceptional. Great ingredients cooked superbly were just what we needed after several 'fine dining' experiences! Fantastic staff who could not do enough for us.

Hermanus is a beautiful quiet city.
Hermanus is a beautiful quiet city. Close to many Shopping Malls and not even crowded.
Our host, Kosie, went out of his way to make our stay in Hermanus memorable. Even concerned about our safety when the storm wreaked havoc in other parts of the Western Cape. Kosie, along with the owner of the accommodation, advised us to stay an extra night, free of charge and to rather travel home when it was safe to do so.
Kosie and Owner, thank you so, so much for concerning yourself about your guests and put their safety ahead of monetary gain. Will definitely return to Hermanus, Voelklip for my next vacation.

Friendliness of everyone was awesome.
Friendliness of everyone was awesome. Everywhere you went you felt safe and welcome. Very easy to get around. Loved the hiking trails. A must-have is comfortable shoes and clothes for all weather types, because you walk a lot and the weather changes very fast.
I loved the friendly, home-like atmosphere. The location right on the beach was sensational. Above all, the staff definitely were brilliant. They were extremely pleasant and helpful. Particularly impressive were the breakfasts. We would arrive to a beautifully set table and the food was brilliant. Fresh fruit and yoghurt was so superior to that provided in the smorgasbord breakfasts provided by big hotels. Then there were the superbly cooked a la carte hot dishes. It was a great start to the day.
Visiting any hotel during deep lockdown level 4 is not an ideal time as no-sit down was allowed at restaurants. However, the wonderful staff at V&L upgraded us to the spacious Sky Room with a separate lounge, big open balcony with the most incredible views over the sea and the main Hermanus village. The facility included a useful kitchenette, plus access to a pool. This was an exceptional stay and would recommend the Harbour House Hotel on the square anytime.
Mixed Experience at Whale Coast Hotel, Hermanus
Our one-night stay at the Whale Coast Hotel in Hermanus left us with mixed feelings. While there were aspects we enjoyed, certain issues dampened our overall experience.
Positives:
The room matched the photos online.
Secured basement parking was convenient.
The hotel's proximity to attractions was a plus, and the area felt safe.
Room amenities like linens and bathroom facilities were excellent.
A perfect serene stay in a quiet rocky bay (away from the hustle and bustle of central Hermanus). The room was enormous with a breathtaking sea view. Relaxed atmosphere throughout. Direct access to the coastal walking path. Onsite free parking with a daily car wash. Excellent breakfast with many different options. The hotel has the most outstanding staff (accommodating, efficient, knowledgeable) adding to the perfection. I dream of returning!
Good place with small garden in the front. Hermanus is a small town, so most of the restaurants or stores seem to be close by. The manager at the time of our stay suggested one of the hotels for dinner, and the recommendation was excellent. While we did not use the cooking facilities in the room, there were several of them and some of which we didn't find in our earlier stays.
The location of the property is ideal, with wonderful sea views (if you book a sea facing unit). The staff were exceptional, and always willing to help where they could. Breakfasts were also very good and tailored to your preferences. The decor of the hotel and our room is elegant and tasteful.
The location incredible and hospitality of all the staff was great. The rooms were spotless and the whole experience far beyond our expectations. The breakfast was adequate - and if you want a full on breakfast - go to a hotel or bed and breakfast. The value for money was excellent.
Beaitiful luxurious, more like a 5 star boutique hotel. Excellent rooms, hosts very friendly and good recommendations of restaurants etc. Great location. Great breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely become our Hermanus getaway stay. Could not fault Villa Venusta.
The helpfulness of the staff from the second you walk in is exceptional. They are always willing to help and will go the extra mile to make sure you are happy.
The views from the property itself is lovely.
All the amenities offered by the hotel is so lovely too.
The room was big and had sea view. The hotel is not far from the sea. There are a number of restaurants next to the hotel. The shops were close by. The breakfast was good. It had a variety items to choose from.
We had a great dual aspect room, with lovely bathroom and separate room with a little fire and view of the sea (if you stood up LOL)
The breakfast was delicious and the hotel was in the centre of Hermanus
The unit is located in a secure estate about 10 minutes outside of Hermanus. It was very clean and comfortable. Fully equipped with all your home comforts . Free WiFi and full DSTV. Lovely sea views.
